Kill me now...

I think this is the biggest week I have ever had. Thought I might keel over at some point, but I didn't. Not feeling especially strong (Monday afternoon) but felt strong at points throughout the weekend.

Notes: I get hot spots on my feet on the bike and run when it is so hot. Any ideas. I think I might go back to the Saucony Kinvaras. Even though they weren't the best for my legs my feet always felt good in them. I also found that wearing compression and soaking my feet with water on the bike helps. I don't want to soak my feet running though.

Have been backordered on nutrition for the past few weeks so have been using whatever I could find. Finally got Accelerade back and even though it cost me an arm and a leg and glad to be stocked up again. Something about that drink and I work really well together. In the past few weeks have tried GU endurance (or something like that) and CarboRocket. Neither one of them works as well.

Last year Erik and I did the same loop minus a few miles (Saturday's ride). I remember starting out slow and in general just staying slow. I remember Erik commenting on my slowness and me telling him we had a long way to go and I didn't want to push it. This year I am in a whole new mental ballgame. Definitely went out going harder. The same goes for the run. Two years ago I never would have pushed a 20 mile run. I would have just gotten through it.  Feeling good about where I am right now.

Tuesday
Rode Lisa's bike around town. Had a tailwind for a long ways and had to fight it to get to swimming on time so actually had a pretty good ride.
Swim- Good swim. Included 10x150 with a short break. These were hard. People started falling off at #7. I fell apart at #8 but finished them off. Total swim for this day was 3400. This evening I about fell over making dinner. Soo tired. I thought it was from the swim workout. Part of if might have been, but I really think it was the start of my monthly burden.

Wednesday
Was so tired on this day. Didn't have anything to do at work anyway, so called in sick. Lounged around for a while and then did the ride. Cleaned the car and lounged around some more. Was nice to have a break, but sucked to feel so tired. Ride was good. Went up and over Kelly Canyon and then up, down, and back up Jackson Creek. Got in some good climbing. It was hot out and I was parched on the way home. Need lots of water on these days.

Thursday
Not feeling any better. Still very tired. Run was hard. I felt like it was hard to breathe. Got it done anyway. That's when I emailed you. Kind of in a panic. What is wrong with me. It makes more sense now. I just need to remember.
Swim- had a good swim. I decided Masters swim is like bike racing. You go and go until you get popped. That's what happened. We did a set of 8x200 with a 20 second break. I held on for 6 and then fell off. It made me realize that Michael is a sandbagger though. He always leads and can swim faster than he does. He needs to move up, but then what would I chase down. Total meters 3400.

Friday
Was super busy at work. 40 mouse takedown and I even had help. Wasn't sure if I would make the swim and tried not to stress about it. Got out of work though and got the swim in. I was tired but this workout made me feel really good. I could start out going slow or with a lot of rest and mentally and physically worked up to that 1:40 interval. I did it!! I wasn't so sure I could, but I did. Yes!!!! It amazes me how swimming 100's just doesn't even phase me right now.

Saturday
Long ass ride! It started out with a sweet tailwind. We were flying at 25-30 miles an hour. I was really trying to ride hard though. Not just let the wind push me. Sitting in the aero position for 30 miles at a time and riding steady was my goal for the day. (We had water stops ~ every 30 miles). Then we had a headwind and it seems like the plan kind of evaporated. Lawrence and I stayed together. It was nice because we could pace each other and use each other to get a little break from the wind. I have ridden to much to want to be out there all alone. Then there was all this road construction and Lawrence went down. I think some of this really ruined our average mph for the day. Once we got water and regrouped though, the ride was good again. I was feeling strong at mile 80 and really discovered what my strong was when at mile 120 on my odometer the mph said 25. Really hunkered down and rode hard for this ride. Got the 20 minute run in. The only place to go in Ringling Montana was up a steep hill. My legs were not super happy, but it was okay. Maybe it wasn't a good thing. I was so tired that night. Didn't sleep well because of the heat. Woke up feeling pretty shitty on Sunday. Throat sore. I think from asthma/hot air/ breathing.
http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/116304539- My computer said 120 miles. The map is a little short.

Much needed water stop in checkerboard
 A) We fell in love with this water spout  B) Lawrence went down in the rock garden
Two Dot Highway. Big wide paved road leading to nowhere. Creepy.

Sunday
Slept late because of not sleeping the night before. Got up and Erik made me a huge breakfast of crepes and bacon. Watched the final stage of the Tour de France. This was one of my favorite tours. I really liked Cavendish this year. Crazy to have the best sprinter and the yellow jersey on the same team.

Went over the the pond and honestly wasn't sure how I would feel today. I decided I had to give everything a try and see how it went. I could always bail early, but I had to at least try.

The swim wasn't bad at all. I started out slow and worked harder through the 5 intervals. I think #4 was probably the best. You tricked me into 1 hour of hard swimming. Think I need to wear my ghetto farmer john wetsuit for the race though. The water is getting warm.

Went home and made something to eat. Loaded the car with water bottles and goo and drove around planting food and water ~ every 4-5 miles. Took about and hour and a lot of mental patience.

Finally started the run. Took it pretty easy as directed for the first 10 miles or so and then ramped up the pace. Honestly, when I mapped the run and it calculated my speed I was kind of disappointed. I felt like my feet were moving faster than that. Maybe if you calculate the first half as slower and the 2nd half as faster that isn't so bad. If I really could hold the pace I ran for those last 10 miles in Ironman I would feel pretty good about my run. Wish had a split time. Regardless of my concern over time I felt pretty good the whole run. Better than I thought I would. I was hot and probably didn't get enough water but no other problems.

Monday
Didn't sleep well. Hot, probably dehydrated, and I had a hard time eating last night so probably in a serious caloric hole. So, I called in sick again to work (just for the morning). Oh, well. I have sick leave and I might as well use it to make sure I don't get sick right?
Actually feel kind of sick. My throat hurts and I am very tired. Trying to take it really easy. Not even walk around much.
Am going to go meet the girls for a ride. Lisa says she is exhausted too and so if anybody goes hard we are going to bail.
